Vinyl Perk is a whole new thing.
It’s a combination coffeehouse, art gallery and record shop. A place where art, music and people come together. A place where you can grab a cup of dark roast and a copy of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”
Our roots go back to the early 1970s. That’s when we discovered vinyl records and first began putting the brush to canvas. A love of coffee soon followed.
At the turn of the new millennium we started selling Lori’s original art and vintage vinyl from the spare bedroom of an old house in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In 2009 we went west and opened an art-music-coffeehouse on Main Street in Pocatello, Idaho that was named “Best New Business in Old Town Pocatello.”
Then in 2011 we packed up and headed back to the Carolinas. First we rolled out this online site. Soon we plan to open doors at a brick-and-mortar venue in Chapel Hill. Stay tuned.

The People Behind the Perk
Our founder Jay Reeves began his journey of vinyl joy in the 1970s, when he was a drive-time disk jockey for South Carolina’s Radio Station of the Year and drummer for the popular Carolinas band Poor Richard. In 1973 “Super Jay” claimed a piece of broadcasting history with his Allman Brothers Weekend where he played “Eat a Peach” on air non-stop for 48 consecutive hours.

Our team includes Rudy (multilingual computer whiz kid from Portland who can solve Rubik’s cube in half a minute), Bo (vinyl junkie, bartender, surfer, and coffee table refinisher) and Annie the wonder beagle (who can sing Love Me Tender).
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay happy. Keep spinning vinyl.
